Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 May 2026

Agreement

These terms govern your use of the ValidFlat website and the scanner app at app.validflat.com (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

What ValidFlat is

ValidFlat is an informational tool that analyses rental listings, screenshots and chat content for patterns commonly associated with rental fraud in Nigeria. The Service surfaces risk signals and a risk score; it does not constitute legal, financial or professional advice.

No guarantee of accuracy

Scam tactics evolve constantly. A “Safe” result does not guarantee that a listing is legitimate, and a “Danger” result does not guarantee that it is a scam. You remain responsible for your own due diligence, including physically inspecting the property, verifying the landlord or agent independently, and confirming ownership documents before sending any payment.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service to scan content you do not have a legitimate reason to evaluate;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, automate or overload the Service;
  • submit content that is unlawful, defamatory or designed to falsely accuse a specific person of fraud;
  • resell or rebrand outputs of the Service without written permission.

User-submitted content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the scanner. You grant ValidFlat a limited licence to process that content for the purpose of providing the analysis you requested. We may use fully anonymised, aggregated patterns derived from submissions to improve the detection engine.

Pricing

The website is free to access and core scanning is free to try. Specific features may be offered as paid plans in future. Where that happens, the price and terms will be presented in-app before any payment is taken.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ValidFlat and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service, including financial loss resulting from a rental transaction. Our total aggregate liability for any direct loss is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the six months preceding the claim, or NGN 10,000, whichever is greater.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of Lagos State.

Changes

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted means you accept the new terms.
